Any assignor, under whose assignment in trust, for the benefit of creditors, either by general words, or particular description, there have been transferred any articles of household furniture, or things of domestic use, may, after the appraisement thereof, apply to the court of common pleas, of the proper county, to have set aside, for the use of the said assignor and family any of the said articles and things, not exceeding in value, at the appraisement thereof, three hundred dollars; and the court may, if no cause be shown to the contrary, after due notice to creditors, order that the same be released from the assigned estate, and handed to the assignor.
