Section 1126 - Work practice standards

Crematories for which construction commenced after April 17, 1989, shall comply with the following work practice standards:

(1) The crematory incinerator shall provide an interlock system that precludes charging of the primary chamber until the secondary or last chamber exit temperature is established and holding at 1600 degrees Fahrenheit.
(2) Operators may open the charge door during the cremation cycle for short periods of time to inspect or reposition the remains.
(3) The department shall not require in a general plan approval or a general permit for operation of a crematory incinerator a temperature greater than 1600 degrees Fahrenheit.
