For the purpose of better preserving bodies received at a medical examiner's office, a medical examiner in a city of the first class, or his designee, may at his discretion cooperate with a licensed funeral director or with any school, college or university offering a course of study in mortuary subjects accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education, Inc., to arrange for the embalming of such bodies. Any person who acts in good faith in accordance with the terms of this provision shall not be liable for damages in any civil action or be subject to prosecution in any criminal proceeding for such act.
