Section 1628 - Applicants for certification - QualificationsEach applicant for certification as a welding inspector shall have the following qualifications:
1. Maintenance experience involving the detection and measurement of weld inadequacies or discontinuities in accordance with specified procedures;2. Repair experience involving the repair or replacement of welds that were determined inadequate or defective by reference to a code, standard, specification or drawing;3. Familiarity with and understanding of the fundamentals of the following processes:a. shielded metal arc welding,c. submerged arc welding,d. flux cored arc welding,e. gas metal arc welding,f. gas tungsten arc welding,k. mechanical cutting. Cutting processes refer only to those processes that are applied to the fabrication and repair of weldments; 4. Capability in writing clear and concise reports and maintaining records; and5. Competency in the use of tools, gauges and instruments pertaining to weld inspection.Okla. Stat. tit. 59, § 1628
