Section 956.05 - Dog retailer license(A)(1) No person shall act as or perform the functions of a dog broker in this state without a dog broker license issued by the director of agriculture in accordance with this section and rules adopted under section 956.03 of the Revised Code.(2) The director shall not issue a license under this section unless the director determines that the applicant will act as or perform the functions of a dog broker in accordance with this chapter and rules adopted under it.(B) A person who is proposing to act as or perform the functions of a dog broker shall submit an application for a license to the director. During the month of December, but before the first day of January of the next year, a person who is proposing to continue to act as or perform the functions of a dog broker shall obtain a license from the director for the following year.(C) The director shall issue a dog broker license in accordance with Chapter 4796. of the Revised Code to a person if either of the following applies:(1) The person holds a license in another state.(2) The person has satisfactory work experience, a government certification, or a private certification as described in that chapter as a dog broker in a state that does not issue that license.Amended by 134th General Assembly, SB 131,§2, eff. 12/29/2023.Amended by 132nd General Assembly, HB 506,§1, eff. 9/28/2018.Added by 129th General Assembly, SB 130, §1, eff. 3/13/2013.
