Section 3107.01 - Adoption definitionsAs used in sections 3107.01 to 3107.19 of the Revised Code:
(A) "Agency" means any public or private organization certified, licensed, or otherwise specially empowered by law or rule to place minors for adoption.(B) "Attorney" means a person who has been admitted to the bar by order of the Ohio supreme court.(C) "Child" means a son or daughter, whether by birth or by adoption.(D) "Court" means the probate courts of this state, and when the context requires, means the court of any other state empowered to grant petitions for adoption.(E) "Foster caregiver" has the same meaning as in section 5103.02 of the Revised Code.(F) "Identifying information" means any of the following with regard to a person: first name, last name, maiden name, alias, social security number, address, telephone number, place of employment, number used to identify the person for the purpose of the statewide education management information system established pursuant to section 3301.0714 of the Revised Code, and any other number federal or state law requires or permits to be used to identify the person.(G) "Minor" means a person under the age of eighteen years.(H) "Putative father" means a man, including one under age eighteen, who may be a child's father and to whom all of the following apply: (1) He is not married to the child's mother at the time of the child's conception or birth;(2) He has not adopted the child;(3) He has not been determined, prior to the date a petition to adopt the child is filed, to have a parent and child relationship with the child by a court proceeding pursuant to sections 3111.01 to 3111.18 of the Revised Code, a court proceeding in another state, an administrative agency proceeding pursuant to sections 3111.38 to 3111.54 of the Revised Code, or an administrative agency proceeding in another state;(4) He has not acknowledged paternity of the child pursuant to sections 3111.21 to 3111.35 of the Revised Code.Effective Date: 3/22/2001 .
