Section 4.1-31-24 - Powers of commissionerFor the purposes of this chapter, the commissioner may:
1.Gather and compile information concerning and investigate the organization, business, conduct, practices, and management of a person in intrastate commerce and the person's relation to other persons.2. Require a person engaged in intrastate commerce file with the commissioner, in the form and manner prescribed by the commissioner, annual and special reports or written answers to specific questions, giving the commissioner the information the commissioner requires about the organization, business, conduct, practices, management, and relation to other persons, of the person filing the reports or answers.3. Examine and copy documentary evidence of a person being investigated or being proceeded against. A person may not refuse to submit to the commissioner, for inspection and copying, any documentary evidence of a person subject to this chapter in the person's possession or control.4. Fix the time of filing for a person required by this chapter to file an annual or special report. A person required by this chapter to file an annual or special report may not continue the failure for thirty days after notice of failure to file.5. Adopt rules to implement this chapter, including establishing inspection fees for providing inspection services under this chapter.Added by S.L. 2017, ch. 68 (SB 2028),§ 5, eff. 7/1/2017.
