Section 58:14-34 - Lease of lands to municipalities maintaining joint sewers; contracts for disposal of sludge; use of moneys received

The Passaic valley sewerage commissioners are hereby given the right, power and authority to lease unto any two or more municipalities in this state, organized in joint meeting, under the provisions of an act entitled "An act to authorize two or more municipalities in this state to jointly construct and maintain outlet or trunk sewers," approved March fifteenth, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, and the supplements thereto and amendments thereof, or under the provisions of article 2 of chapter 63 of the title Municipalities and Counties (s. 40:63-68 et seq.), for such period of years as may be agreed upon, any portion of its lands deemed necessary by the contracting parties for the purpose of constructing and maintaining on and in such leased lands, pipe lines and sewage storage tanks with appurtenances, and to enter into any agreements concerning the same, upon such terms and conditions as may be agreed upon; and shall further have the right, power and authority to enter into a contract or contracts with such municipalities, organized in joint meeting as aforesaid, for the disposal of sludge by barge to sea or otherwise.

All moneys received by the commissioners pursuant to any such lease and contract or contracts shall be applied first to all costs and expenses in connection with said lease and contract or contracts, and the balance of the moneys, if any, shall be applied toward the payment of the cost of operation and maintenance of the intercepting sewer and appurtenances operated and maintained by the commissioners.
