Section 674:47 - Abolition of Historic DistrictsI.Except as provided in paragraph II, any district established pursuant to the provisions of this subdivision may be abolished in the following manner: Upon petition of 25 voters, the historic district commission shall hold 2 public hearings at least 15 days apart on the proposal to abolish the historic district, at which hearings citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard. Notice for each public hearing shall be as provided in RSA675:7. Following the above public hearings, the proposal to abolish a historic district shall be presented for insertion in the warrant of a regular or special town meeting as provided in RSA39:3. The historic district shall be abolished upon a vote of 2/3 of the members of the local legislative body present and voting.II.In counties in which there are located unincorporated towns or unorganized places, the local legislative body shall determine the manner in which any district established pursuant to the provisions of this subdivision may be abolished for those unincorporated towns and unorganized places. 1983, 447:1. 1989, 266:23, eff.
