Section 7-2-2709 - Election on question of abandonment and consolidation(1)(a) Within 14 days after transmittal of the resolution provided for in 7-2-2707, the boards of county commissioners of the county in which the petition referred to in the resolution was filed and of each county designated in the resolution as a county to which any of the territory of the county, if abandoned and abolished, would be attached and made a part shall, in a joint meeting and by joint resolution of the boards, call an election in all affected counties. The election must be conducted in accordance with Title 13, chapter 1, part 4.(b) The joint resolution must be filed in the office of the secretary of state, and copies of the resolution must be transmitted to the election administrator of each of the counties in which the election is to be held.(2) At the election there must be submitted: (a) to the registered electors of the county in which the petition was filed, the question of whether or not the county is to be abandoned and abolished and its territory attached to and made a part of the county designated and named for the purpose in the petition; and(b) to the registered electors of each county named and designated in the resolution as a county to which a part of the territory of the county proposed to be abandoned and abolished is to be attached and made a part if the county is abandoned and abolished, the question of whether or not the part of the territory of the county, if abandoned and abolished, described in the resolution must be attached to and become a part of the county.Amended by Laws 2015, Ch. 49, Sec. 22, eff. 11/4/2015.En.
