Section 46-4-202 - Summoning and swearing in of jurors - instructions
(1) When holding an inquest, the coroner shall summon a jury of at least 6 but not more than 12 persons qualified by law to serve as jurors and selected at random from a list of eligible jurors that is furnished to the coroner annually by the county clerk of court.
(2) The jury selected by the coroner must be sworn by the coroner to inquire who the person was and when, where, and by what means the person died and into the circumstances attending the person's death and to render a true verdict on the death according to the evidence offered to them or arising from the inspection of the body.
(3) The coroner shall instruct the jurors as to their duties.
