Section 301.800 - Registration of solar-powered vehicle - application - license plate - fees - inspections, operation1. Any motor vehicle assembled by a two- or four-year institution of higher education exclusively utilizing solar power and built to compete in a national competition organized to foster interest in solar energy shall be registered and titled by the director of revenue, other laws regulating licensing of motor vehicles to the contrary notwithstanding.2. Such institution shall file an application in a form prescribed by the director, verified by affidavit, that such vehicle meets the requirements of subsection 1 of this section.3. The plate issued by the director shall be the collegiate plate of the institution and shall display the term "solar" in a manner prescribed by the director.4. The institution shall pay the applicable fees as determined by the director.5. Such motor vehicle shall be exempt from the inspections required by section 307.350 and section 643.315 and shall only be operated on the streets and highways with the approval of the institution of higher education.L. 1997 H.B. 773 § 1, A.L. 2006S.B. 583
