Section 324.509 - Permit for use of state parks; disposition of revenue from permit fees and concessions at state parks; use of fees for processing applications for use of state forests; creation of forest land user fund(1) The department may require that a person obtain a permit for the use of a state park. The department may establish and collect fees for permits to use state parks. The revenue realized by the department from permit fees and concessions at state parks shall be credited to a separate fund of the state treasury and shall be available for appropriation to the department of natural resources for improvement and maintenance of state parks.(2) The department may establish and collect fees to cover the costs to the department for the processing of applications and for monitoring of permits for the use of state forests that require extensive review. The forest land user fund is created in the state treasury. Money received under this subsection shall be credited to the fund. The state treasurer shall direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments. Money remaining in the fund at the end of a fiscal year shall be carried over in the fund to the next and succeeding fiscal year. Money in the fund may be appropriated to the department to cover the costs of reviewing applications and monitoring of permits for the use of state forests.1994, Act 451, Eff. 3/30/1995 ;--Am. 1998, Act 420, Imd.
