1.Prohibition. An operator of a vehicle may not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of the vehicles, the traffic and the condition of the way. [1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5(AFF).]
2.Vehicles towing other vehicles. An operator of a vehicle towing another vehicle, when traveling outside of a business or residential district and following a vehicle towing another vehicle and when conditions permit, shall leave sufficient space so that an overtaking vehicle may enter the space between the 2 vehicles without danger. This subsection does not prohibit a motor vehicle towing another vehicle from overtaking and passing another vehicle. [1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5(AFF).]
3.Motorcades. Motor vehicles being driven outside of a business or residential district in a caravan or motorcade must be operated as to allow sufficient space between vehicles so that an overtaking vehicle may enter the space between vehicles without danger. 4.Trucks. A truck operator, when traveling outside of a business or residential district, may not follow within 150 feet of another truck. This subsection does not prohibit one truck overtaking or passing another. [1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5(AFF).]
5.Following fire apparatus; other emergency vehicles. An operator may not follow within 500 feet of fire apparatus traveling in response to a fire alarm or within 150 feet of any other authorized emergency vehicle as defined in section 2054, subsection 1, paragraph B that is using an emergency light as defined in section 2054, subsection 1, paragraph D.
