Section 1255 - Members of the Armed Forces1.Privileges. A resident who is serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces and otherwise qualified to operate a motor vehicle: A. Must receive a license or nondriver identification card on application to the Secretary of State; [2013, c. 51, §1(AMD).]B. Is exempt from the payment of a fee for a license or nondriver identification card; [2013, c. 51, §1(AMD).]C. May operate a motor vehicle, notwithstanding the expiration date of that person's license, without obtaining a new license; and [1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5(AFF).]D. 2.After discharge. The privileges of this section remain in effect for a period of 180 days after discharge or release from the Armed Forces. [2013, c. 51, §2(AMD).]
3.Revocation or suspension. This section does not permit a person whose license or right to operate is revoked or suspended or who has been refused a license to operate a motor vehicle. [1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5(AFF).]
