Section 1-102 - Purposes; rule of construction
1.Liberal construction. This Code must be liberally construed and applied to promote its underlying purposes and policies.

2.Purposes and policies. The underlying purposes and policies of this Code are to:
A. Simplify and clarify the law concerning the affairs of decedents, missing persons, protected persons, minors and incapacitated persons; [2017, c. 402, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 2019, c. 417, Pt. B, §14(AFF).]
B. Discover and make effective the intent of a decedent in the distribution of the decedent's property; [2017, c. 402, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 2019, c. 417, Pt. B, §14(AFF).]
C. Promote a speedy and efficient system for liquidating the estate of the decedent and making distribution to the decedent's successors; [2017, c. 402, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 2019, c. 417, Pt. B, §14(AFF).]
