Section 37:1024 - Authorized and prohibited functions of medication attendantsA. The authorized functions of the medication attendant are: (1) Deliver and administer medications ordered by a physician or dentist to residents with the supervision of a registered nurse.(2) Record in the client's chart doses delivered to and/or administered to the client.(3) Chart drug effects and side effects.(4) Obtain vital signs as indicated or ordered.(5) Deliver pro re nata "PRN", as needed, medications when authorized by a licensed physician, dentist, or registered nurse. This authorization must be documented in writing within twenty-four hours.B.
