P.R. Laws tit. 23, § 542
A corporate entity and body politic is hereby created, separate and independent from the Autonomous Municipality of Ponce, which shall be known as the “Port of Ponce Authority”, to be governed by a Board of Directors chaired by the Mayor of the Autonomous Municipality of Ponce, and which Board shall be composed of three (3) members selected from among the directors of the Port of the Americas Authority by the Chair of said Port Authority. It is hereby provided that two (2) members shall be appointed for a term of six (6) years and one (1) shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years. It shall further include three (3) residents of the municipalities that make up Desarrollo Integral del Sur, Inc. (DISUR), two (2) of which shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years and one (1) for a term of three (3) years.
