§ 489. Conflicts of interest

No official, director, agent, or employee of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or its instrumentalities, the Fund or any cooperative shall have, direct or indirect, personal interest in any contract with the Fund, or in any eligible cooperative enterprise or in real or personal property to be used by, or in any eligible cooperative enterprise.

Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be discharged from his/her office and upon conviction of a felony, shall be subject to a fine that shall not exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), or imprisonment for a maximum term of five (5) years, or both penalties, at the discretion of the court.
