Universities and postsecondary institutions that award bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology, education, and social work shall offer their students at least nine (9) credit-hours related to autism spectrum disorder. Universities offering said education shall issue a certificate attesting to the preparation of students in said field upon meeting the academic requirements.
Any practicum course offered by the university or postsecondary institution shall include rendering services to low-income autism spectrum disorder population.
The University of Puerto Rico and other private universities that provide education to healthcare professionals shall be required to revise, evaluate, and modify college curricula, so that these include the aforementioned professional competencies. Likewise, such universities shall make institutional modifications as are necessary to develop or amend any regulations, circular letter, or administrative order to meet such requirement.
