The Cerebrovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, attached to the Puerto Rico Medical Services Administration, is hereby authorized and empowered to establish its own administrative structure, which shall enable it to determine the services it will offer and consolidate the necessary units and departments, such as the Gamma Knife Unit, Endovascular Neurosurgery, Stroke Center, Interventional Radiology, and Peripheral Vascular Surgery, among others, for its effective, swift, efficient, and cost-effective operation. The administrative structure created by this chapter shall be in charge of the organization, operation, and administration of the services provided by the Center. Said structure shall not be construed to undermine the functions, duties, and powers granted by law to the Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Medical Services Administration. None of the provisions of this chapter shall be construed to create a new public corporation. The provisions of this chapter shall be construed consistently with §§ 342 et seq. of this title, known as the “Puerto Rico Medical Services Administration Act”.
