(a) School. — For the purposes of this chapter, shall mean any public or private institution, duly authorized by the Department of Education, that offers kindergarten and primary, secondary and post-secondary level courses, which does not offer an associate degree of an academic, vocational, technical and highly skilled nature within the territorial limits of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Those colleges and universities authorized to function as such in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico by the Council of Superior Education are hereby included within this definition.
(b) Daycare center. — An establishment, regardless of how it is designated, dedicated to the care of more than six (6) children during part of the twenty-four (24) hours in a day, for profitable or nonprofitable purposes.
(c) Social Treatment Center. — An institution under the Department of the Family jurisdiction, that also offers education to resident minors. This includes the Loaiza Cordero Institute.
(d) Student. — Means any person that enrolls and is admitted to any of the schools included in the definition of school, and who is under 21 years of age. This also includes minors admitted to the social treatment centers.
(e) Preschool child. — A human being less than 5 years of age who attends a daycare center.
(f) Admitted or enrolled. — Means the official acceptance of a student at any of the levels included in the definition of school, be it full-time or part-time. This also includes those resident minors who are admitted compulsorily to a social treatment center.
(g) Daycare center director. — An official authorized in the daycare centers by the Department of the Family to direct and administer the center.
(h) Social treatment center director. — An official authorized in the social treatment centers by the Department of the Family to direct and administer the Center.
(i) Registrar. — For the purposes of this chapter, shall mean the official authorized by the school with authority to admit or reject students. This definition may be extended to the Board of Directors or to the director of the school.
(j) Certificate of immunization. — Shall mean the form provided by the Department of Health, signed by the doctor or by the professional who administers the vaccine and which certifies that a particular person has been immunized against a particular disease.
(k) Immunization. — For the purposes of this chapter, shall mean the administration of a vaccine or toxoid to a human body through an injection, or orally, to keep it immunized against those diseases as required by the Secretary of Health in the annual publication established in § 182i of this title.
(l) Secretary of Health. — The Secretary of Health of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
(m) Secretary of Education. — The Secretary of Education of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
(n) Secretary of the Family. — The Secretary of the Family of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
