§ 285z. Exemptions

(a) Any agent who has belonged to any of the divisions of the Police Corps of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or of any state of the United States and has served for a term of not less than eight (8) years or to any Investigation Corps attached to the Police, or to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and has been honorably discharged therefrom, shall be entitled to obtain a private detective license, provided he/she meets all the requirements of Section 4, except for the provisions of subsections (f) and (k) of this section. The application shall be sworn before an officer authorized to administer oaths in Puerto Rico and shall state the applicant’s name and surnames; date and place of birth; place of residence, time he/she has lived in Puerto Rico, time during which and places where he/she has practiced the profession of private detective.

(b) Any nonresident private detective who shall prove that he is authorized to practice as such in any state, territory or possession of the United States of America, may be temporarily authorized by the Superintendent to practice his occupation in Puerto Rico for the sole purpose of fulfilling a specific mission; such authorization shall be fee free.
