Any person who aspires to practice naturopathy in Puerto Rico shall meet the following requirements:
(a) File a duly sworn application before the Board, on the form provided by the Board to such effects.
(b) Present a negative criminal record certificate issued by the Police of Puerto Rico and by the competent authorities in the jurisdictions where the applicant has resided.
(c) Be over eighteen (18) years of age.
(d) Have approved ninety (90) credits of academic studies in general studies and basic natural science or a bachelor’s degree in natural science from a university institution of higher learning accredited by the Council on Higher Education of Puerto Rico or by ant accrediting institution recognized by the Council on Higher Education. This training shall include the following subjects: general biology, general chemistry and general physics.
(e) Have approved a postgraduate studies program which confers a professional academic degree in naturopathic science in a university institution of higher learning, college or school authorized by the Council on Higher Education or by any other accrediting institution recognized by the Council on Higher Education which enables him/her to adequately practice naturopathy, as provided by this chapter. This training shall include the following subjects, among others: human anatomy and physiology, organic chemistry, biochemistry and nutrition.
(f) Take and pass the revalidation examination given by the Board.
(g) Have resided in Puerto Rico for a term of not less than one (1) year prior to the application for a license.
(h) The fees imposed by this chapter by a certified check or postal money order to the order of the Secretary of the Treasury.
(i) Present evidence that a professional malpractice insurance policy has been obtained and/or maintained in effect with a limit of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) per incident and an aggregate of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) a year. This policy must be issued by an insurer duly authorized to contract business in Puerto Rico.
The Board shall issue a naturopath license to the persons who comply with all the requirements established in this chapter. The license shall be displayed in a public place in the place of business of the naturopath.
