The Association of Dental Technicians of Puerto Rico shall be empowered to:
(a) Exist to perpetuity under this name, sue and be sued as a judicial person.
(b) Have and use a seal to identify it.
(c) Acquire rights and properties, both real or personal, by donation, legacy, assessments on its own members, purchase or otherwise; and to possess, transfer, mortgage, rent or otherwise dispose of them in any manner which benefits its members.
(d) Appoint its directors, officers or officials, as provided in the regulations of the Association and this chapter.
(e) Adopt regulations which shall be binding for all its members and amend them in the manner and according to the requirements established therein.
(f) Adopt and enforce the rules of professional ethics which shall govern the conduct of dental technicians and which shall be approved and published by the Association.
(g) Receive and investigate the complaints made through a sworn statement regarding the conduct of members in the exercise of their profession, which shall be remitted to the Board of Directors for pertinent action after a hearing in which the defendant or his legal counsel shall be given the opportunity to present the corresponding evidence. If it is determined that there is a reasonable cause, then the corresponding disciplinary procedure may be initiated before the Puerto Rico Board of Examiners of Dental Technicians. The Board of Directors shall make the pertinent recommendations before the Puerto Rico Board of Examiners of Dental Technicians. Nothing of what is provided herein shall be understood in the sense of limiting or altering the power of the Board of Examiners of Dental Technicians to initiate such procedures on its own account.
(h) Protect its members in the practice of the profession and through the creation of an insurance system, special fund or otherwise, help those who retire due to physical disability or old age and the heirs or the beneficiaries of members who die.
(i) Exercise the incidental powers that are necessary or convenient for the purposes of its creation and operation that are not in conflict with this chapter.
