Dental assistants are hereby authorized to practice in Puerto Rico, subject to the provisions of §§ 81—94u of this title.
[It] is hereby understood [that] “dental assistant” [is] the auxiliary dental personnel who works directly with the dentist while the latter is rendering his services to patients in his office. His function and work are aimed at attaining a greater efficiency in the rendering of dental services [by] relieving the dentist from those tasks which do not require a higher degree of academic preparation characteristic of the dentist.
