§ 94a. Dental hygiene—Practice authorized

The practice of dental hygiene in Puerto Rico is hereby authorized subject to the following provisions of §§ 81—94u of this title:

There is hereby understood as “dental hygienist” the dentist[’s] assistant who renders preventive dental services directly to the patient. His responsibilities vary according to the place where he works, but they are principally related with the prevention of oral diseases and the safeguarding of health. He is therefore an educator in oral health with specialized clinical skills.
