The initial appointments of the members of the Board shall be made in the following manner: two (2) for a term of two (2) years; two (2) for a term of three (3) years; and one (1) for a term of four (4) years. In the appointments for the two (2) -year and three (3) -year terms, a speech-language pathologist and an audiologist must always be appointed. The subsequent appointments shall be made for a four (4) -year term. The Board members shall hold office until their successors have been appointed and taken office. The vacancies that occur in the Board shall be filled in the same manner as for the original appointments. The term of a member who fills a vacancy shall be extended for the remainder of his antecedent’s term. No person may be a member of the Board for more than two (2) consecutive terms.
