For purposes of this subchapter, the words and phrases stated below shall have the following meaning:
(1) Pollution.— Means the degradation of the natural quality of waters, the air, or the ground, as a direct or indirect result of human activities, as set forth in the regulations of the Environmental Quality Board.
(2) Prevention.— Means any practice which reduces the amount of any hazardous substance or pollutant emitted into the environment or which must eventually be disposed of through solid waste disposal techniques. It also means any practice that diminishes health and environmental hazards through the disposal of such substances and pollutants. The term includes equipment or modifications in technology, processes or modifications in processes, product reformulation or redesign, material replacement, and improvements in maintenance systems, training, inventory control, and home maintenance.
