§ 2325. Establishment

Government dependencies shall have a term of six (6) months, after the approval of the regulations by the Mental Health and Addiction Services Administration “ASSMCA”, to establish an Assistance Program for Employees and their Immediate Family Members. Those government agencies in which an Assistance Program for Employees and their Immediate Family Members exists prior to the approval of this act, shall continue to provide services to the employees and shall have the same six (6) month term to temper their Programs to the regulations approved by virtue of this chapter by the Mental Health and Addiction Services Administration “ASSMCA”.

The municipal governments of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico may establish Assistance Programs for Employees and their Immediate Family Members upon the corresponding contribution for the Program appropriated by the Municipal Legislature and signed by the mayor of such municipality. Provided, however, That these are compelled to exercise their best efforts and implement the Assistance Program for Employees and their Immediate Family Members within a term not to exceed three (3) years commencing on July 1, 2007, if an Assistance Program is not already operating.
