§ 741. Increases in compensation

There is hereby directed the payment of such salary increases as may result from the revision of the various compensation plans applying to the officers and employees of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico rendering service in Puerto Rico, including the teaching personnel of the Department of Education and the officers and members of the Police of Puerto Rico. In the case of the officers and employees included within the competitive and noncompetitive services, there shall govern for the payment of the said increase either the compensation schedules in force at the time this act takes effect or those which may be approved by the Legislature. In the case of the public education teachers and in that of the officers and members of the Police, there shall govern either the compensation plans applicable to the said employees which are in force at the time this act takes effect or those which may be approved by the Legislature; Provided, That in the case of the rest of the employees included within the exempt service there shall be applied schedules equivalent to those used for similar positions included within the competitive and noncompetitive services; Provided, further, That no employee shall receive a salary lower than that which he is receiving under the provisions of Act No. 371 of 1952 at the time this act takes effect.
