§ 711c. Leave of absence

The right of the irregular personnel employed by the Government of Puerto Rico is hereby established to enjoy leave of absence with pay from the effective date of the regulations provided for in § 711a of this title.

Such irregular personnel as in any fiscal year render services equivalent to three (3) months or more in any agency shall be entitled to accrue sick leave at a rate of 1 1 / 2 days for each month of service and to vacation leave at a rate of 2 1 / 2 days for each month of service. It shall be discretional with the head of each agency to grant the leave of absence at a time most convenient to the service. No vacation leave may be accrued in excess of sixty (60) working days at the end of any fiscal year.

At the closing of each fiscal year, there may be paid to the irregular employees the balance of the vacation leave accumulated up to that date.

Irregular personnel severed from service for any cause, transferred from the service of one agency to the service of another agency, or is appointed to hold positions under Act No. 345 of May 12, 1947, shall be entitled to receive cash payment for the balance of the vacation leave credited to him up to a maximum of sixty (60) working days.

If the separation from service is caused by the death of the irregular worker, there shall be paid to his beneficiaries the sum that may have corresponded to him by reason of the unused vacation leave as provided in this section.

The agencies shall keep their irregular personnel informed of the rights granted thereto by §§ 711-711g of this title.
