§ 711. Definitions

For the purposes of §§ 711-711-g of this title, the following terms and phrases shall have the following meanings, except where the context clearly indicates otherwise:

(a) Government of Puerto Rico.— Includes all the departments and agencies of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

(b) Agency.— Means any department, board, commission, bureau, office or dependency of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The provisions hereof referent to the status of employees whose duties and responsibilities are not comprised in the definition for irregular personnel, shall apply to those public corporations with positions in the Competitive Service.

(c) Irregular personnel.— Means the personnel designated to perform duties and responsibilities of a determinable duration when the conditions and/or the nature of the work render impracticable the creation of positions, as this term is defined in the Personnel Act.

(d) Overtime.— Means any time or period of work in excess of the regular working hours, or any service rendered on rest days or on official holidays.

(e) Regular compensation rate.— Means the rate of pay set for any irregular work during regular working hours.

(f) Extra compensation.— Means pay for overtime.
