(a) A leave with pay is hereby granted, for a period of four (4) hours a year to donate blood or to register as a potential bone marrow donor, to all employees on probation, or regular, confidential or transitory employees, or to officials of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or its instrumentalities and public corporations or municipalities that so request it.
All public officials or employees, as defined in the above paragraph, may enjoy a period of four (4) hours a year from their whole work day to register as a bone marrow donor. In order for said period not to be deducted from any other leave, they must present evidence of such registration to their employer.
The period to register in the Bone Marrow Donor Registry shall be enjoyed only once per employee.
(b) The nominating authority may corroborate by any means that the license granted had been used for the purposes established in this section. The unlawful use of this license may lead to disciplinary sanctions, pursuant to the personnel regulations of the nominating authority.
(c) The employee shall provide the nominating authority supportive evidence that he or she used the period granted for the purposes established by this section.
