§ 554. Trade in evidences of governmental indebtedness prohibited

All officers or employees of the Commonwealth Government, or of any municipality, board, commission, or other dependency thereof, are prohibited from purchasing or selling, or in any other manner receiving for their own benefit or use, or for the use or benefit of any person or persons whatever, any warrants, scripts, orders, demands, claims, or other evidences of indebtedness issued to or held by them for public services rendered by them, or evidences of the funded indebtedness of Puerto Rico, or of any municipality, board, commission or other dependency thereof; Provided, That the provisions of this section shall not be construed to prevent the receipt and use by, or on behalf of, any officer or employee of any amounts legally due such officer or employee for compensation or expenses, in whatever form such amounts may be paid.
