This office shall be responsible for the compliance with §§ 320 et seq. of Title 5, in addition to enforce the regulations that establish the norms to govern the transactions of coffee in all its phases, production, processing and sale, approved on June 2, 1993.
Its personnel shall be assigned to inspect, investigate, audit, issue detention orders, and collaborate with the Agencies that the Secretary may determine to achieve that natural or juridical persons [who] in a way or the other participate, help, finance, collaborate, hide, or in any way contribute with moving smuggled coffee are taken before the concerning forums. It may participate in the works of this office, officers or employees of other agencies or departments of the Government of Puerto Rico such as agencies devoted to control crime, smuggling, and tax or duties evasion. It shall be [the] responsibility of the officers of the Department of Agriculture to work in close collaboration and coordination with officers of other federal and state agencies who intervene in this type of investigations.
The Office shall organize and coordinate with public safety agencies to attend [to] those claims related to the illegal coffee market in Puerto Rico and take pertinent measures to enforce the applicable laws.
