§ 9032. Right to benefit when on leave or temporary suspension

Every member who is on leave without pay, or is temporarily suspended from employment and salary, shall keep his/her right to life insurance and insured years of service insurance benefits, provided that upon returning to his/her position, the corresponding premiums shall continue to be deducted.

The premiums in arrears reflected in the account of the member shall be collected directly from him/her, or shall be deducted from future loans granted by the Association, or from any benefit or reimbursement to which he/she in entitled. If the member dies while on leave without pay, he/she shall be covered and the unpaid premiums shall be deducted from the life insurance benefits. The Assembly of Delegates shall adopt regulations for the collection of the premiums in arrears.

This provision shall apply equally to every member who avails him/herself of the benefits provided in this chapter for those members who suffer from a catastrophic illness, provided that when requesting said benefit the member is on leave without pay, or intends to avail him/herself of a leave to undergo treatment that will prevent him/her from working.
