§ 8853. Office of the Inspector General—Director

The Director of the Office shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico, for the duration of the four-year term in which he/she is appointed. The compensation of the Director of the Office shall be determined by the Governor according to the office’s level of responsibility. The appointed official shall be a person of recognized professional capability, moral probity, and knowledge in the fields of public administration and government management.

The person appointed as Director may not be a candidate for elective public office while working for the Office, nor for the three (3) years following the end of his/her tenure. Likewise, he/she may not take part in any political committee nor participate in political campaigns.
