§ 2121. Notice

To direct every business operating in Puerto Rico and that sells and maintains in its inventory television sets with [analog] tuners, to place a notice with the features to be established, by regulations, by the Department of Consumer Affairs in accordance with the regulations of the Federal Communications Commission, on those television sets containing an analog tuner in order to inform consumers that said equipment shall need a converter box, as of February 17, 2009, in order to receive over-the-air television transmission.

The businesses engaged in the sale of television sets and that have in their inventories analog tuner units, shall inform consumers of the transition from analog to digital television to take place of February 17, 2009, according to the “DTV Transition Act of 2005”. To such effects, they shall orient consumers on the available options and of the consequences of acquiring an analog television set.

The Department of Consumer Affairs is hereby directed to conduct a public awareness campaign for consumers regarding the federal reimbursement of funds program of the Federal Communications Commission and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the Department of Commerce for the acquisition of converter boxes.
