P.R. Laws tit. 10, § 2052
The following terms used in this chapter shall have the meanings provided hereinbelow:
(a) Person.— Shall mean any natural or juridical person.
(b) Factory warranty.— Shall mean the document issued by the motor vehicle manufacturer attesting to the fitness of the design, materials and workmanship used in the manufacture or assembly of said motor vehicle, and assuming liability for the reimbursement, repair, replacement, substitution or any other appropriate remedy to correct the flaws, defects or deficiencies said vehicles may have, within a specific period of time.
(c) Manufacturer or maker.— Shall mean any person other than an authorized distributor or independent dealer, as such terms are defined in this chapter, who is engaged in the manufacture, making, assembly and distribution of motor vehicles, including its subsidiaries and affiliates.
(d) Factory representative.— Shall mean every person who in representation of the manufacturer or maker, or any subsidiary or affiliated corporations thereof, resides or is established in Puerto Rico, or through whom or which the manufacturer or maker may be summoned and required to comply with the provisions of this chapter.
(e) Authorized distributor.— Shall mean every person who is engaged in the retail sale or distribution of motor vehicles of any make, by concession and authorization or agreement with the manufacturer or factory representative in Puerto Rico.
(f) Independent distributor.— Shall mean every person engaged in the retail sale or distribution of motor vehicles of any make who is not a part of the distribution channels established by the maker or manufacturer.
(g) Motor vehicle.— Shall mean any vehicle, truck, van or bus moved by any force other than muscle power.
(h) New motor vehicle.— Shall mean every motor vehicle registered in the Department of Transportation and Public Works of Puerto Rico and whose factory warranty has not expired.
(i) Consumer.— Shall mean every person who acquires a motor vehicle for personal, commercial, agricultural or industrial use, but not for reselling purposes.
(j) Distributor or dealer.— Shall mean any authorized distributor, exclusive distributor or independent distributor, and any other person engaged in the sale of new motor vehicles to consumers.
