§ 1492-1. Housing projects

The provisions of this chapter shall equally apply to housing projects and not only to individuals, as defined in this chapter. Provided, that the housing project qualification shall be subject to the discretion of the Secretary contingent on the availability of funds for the implementation of the provisions of this chapter.

Furthermore, the Secretary is hereby authorized to prescribe by regulations the maximum rent that shall apply to housing projects benefiting from this chapter. The Secretary shall also be empowered to enter into contracts that at his discretion are necessary to ensure that any housing project lessor meets the requirements of this chapter and the regulations promulgated thereunder. It is hereby specified that not all projects qualified by the Department of Housing shall be recipients of the benefits provided by this chapter, since the appropriation of funds shall be made contingent on the availability of funds therefor at the discretion of the Secretary.
