§ 871. Definitions

For the purposes of §§ 871—879 of this title, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings and scope expressed for each:

(a) Prefabricated house. — Means a complete housing unit, made in its place of manufacture, which is intended to be transported or sent to be joined to or affixed on permanent foundations or on another structure, containing a kitchen, bathroom, dining, living and sleeping areas which includes or does not include plumbing, heating and lighting equipment. A prefabricated house may consist of one or more modules, but shall not consist of components or panels, nor individual parts that need to be molded or cut to be assembled or attached to the permanent foundation. The term does not include a mobile unit.

(b) Prefabricated wood house. — Means a prefabricated house, as defined above, with the structural framework, and outside and inside walls made of wood.

(c) Prefabricated concrete house. — Means a prefabricated house, as defined in subsection (a) of this section, with the outside and inside walls, floor and roof made of concrete. In this type of prefabricated house, concrete or clay blocks may be used for partitions or inside walls.

(d) Prefabricated metal house. — Means a prefabricated house as defined in subsection (a) of this section, with a structural framework of steel, aluminum, steel plate or other material.

(e) Prefabricated plastic house. — Means a prefabricated house as defined in subsection (a) of this section, with a structural framework of steel, aluminum or other rigid metal, with outside and inside walls and a roof of polyurethane panels covered with fiberglass or acrylic plastic sheets.

(f) Administration. — Means the Regulations and Permits Administration of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
