§ 62. Road and street maintenance in housing projects

In the expenses of administration of the Puerto Rico Housing Authority and municipal housing authorities are included the expenses for the repair and maintenance of roads, streets, and alleys within the projects; and in order to keep these operating expenses as low as possible so as to keep the house rent on said projects very low, such roads, streets and alleys, and the approaches thereto from commonwealth roads, shall be considered as a part of the system of commonwealth roads for the purposes of repair and maintenance; and the Secretary of Transportation and Public Works is hereby directed and instructed to repair and maintain such approaches, roads, streets, and alleys, beginning with the fiscal year 1939-40, with the funds provided by Act No. 143 of 1937 for the maintenance of roads and bridges by the Department of Transportation and Public Works; and he is further authorized to make agreements with the Puerto Rico Housing Authority or with any constituted municipal housing authority for the maintenance and repair of said approaches, roads, streets, and alleys without cost to the said Puerto Rico Housing Authority or to any constituted municipal housing authority, while such projects subsist.
