The right to retirement annuities, death benefits and any other benefits, pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, regardless of their denomination, shall constitute a personal right of the receiver thereof, and the transfer of said benefits and reimbursements, or of part thereof, shall be null and void; except when otherwise provided in this chapter. None of said pensions or benefits may be claimed for the payment of debts contracted by persons receiving the same.
