Sections 1 et seq. of this title shall be denominated as the “Banking Law” and shall be applicable to every presently organized corporation or any corporation to be organized in the future, to engage in the banking business in Puerto Rico; Provided, That the term “bank” in the definition of a business shall only be used by those corporations engaged in the banking business.
The provisions of Act No. 144 of August 10, 1995, known as the “General Corporations Law of 1995”, shall be applicable to the banking corporations organized pursuant to §§ 1 et seq. of this title, provided they are not in contravention to §§ 1 et seq. of this title.
