P.R. Laws tit. 1, § 5154
(a) November of each year is hereby declared as “Obesity Awareness, Prevention, Control and Reduction Month” in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
(b) Each year, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, by means of proclamation to this effect, issued no less than ten (10) days in advance of November 1st, shall exhort the Puerto Rican people, as well as order the different agencies and entities in charge of public health, in addition to those indicated in the next paragraph, to organize and sponsor activities that are appropriate for the celebration of “Obesity Awareness, Prevention, Control and Reduction Month” in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
The Department of Health, the Department of Education, the School of Medicine of the University of Puerto Rico, and the Office of the Advocate for Disabled Persons shall organize and sponsor activities pertaining to the celebration set forth in this section.
(c) A copy of the annual proclamation shall be distributed to the local news broadcasting and mass communication media to promote its disclosure.
