The Governor may designate the office of the Commonwealth agency responsible for receiving and administering any funds or contributions granted by federal laws for elderly programs.
The Office is hereby designated as the administering agency in charge of locally implementing federal programs for the elderly as are established by virtue of Public Law 89-73 of July 14, 1965, as amended, known as the “Older Americans Act of 1965”.
Upon its designation pursuant to this chapter, the Office shall be thereby authorized to take the necessary steps and enter into agreements and contracts with the pertinent federal agencies in representation of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to obtain any federal benefits and funding available. The office shall request the Office of Management and Budget to match the funds required from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico with federal funds.
