All unit owners, whether natural or juridical persons, shall have the following responsibilities:
(1) Report to the Puerto Rico Police:
(a) When a unit they own has been illegally appropriated, stolen, lost, is missing, or has been destructed or exported. This report shall be made immediately after they become aware of said situation by using the forms to be prepared and provided by the Puerto Rico Police in coordination with the Department of Transportation and Public Works, and should these not be available, in original and two (2) copies, in the most appropriate manner. On said report, the injured party shall provide a detailed description of the unit, as well as an account of the circumstances surrounding these facts.
(2) To hand over to the Department of Transportation and Public Works the ownership certificates and any other document that proves ownership of a unit owned by them when the same has been destroyed, stolen, illegally appropriated, exported or sold in parts or when the owners have abandoned the unit because it is unserviceable.
(3) To notify the Puerto Rico Police and the Department of Transportation and Public Works, the financial institution and the insuring company, if any, of the recovery of any stolen or illegally appropriated unit. This notice shall be given on or before ten (10) days have elapsed from the recovery.
(4) To file an application with the Puerto Rico Police and the Department of Transportation and Public Works for re-registering or re-identifying any unit when necessary and applicable under the provisions of this chapter.
