There is hereby created a Retirement System for the Judiciary of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, to be administered pursuant to the provisions of §§ 233—246 of this title, the purpose of which is to establish an efficient and economically sound means of providing pensions and other benefits through the setting up of a system under which the judges of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico accumulate reserves for their old age, disability, separation from the service, or death. The system so created shall be known as the Puerto Rico Judiciary Retirement System.
