§ 866. Coordination with the Department of Agriculture

The Puerto Rico Police, the Municipal Police or the Inspectors of the Department of Agriculture, as soon as they have conducted an intervention pursuant to the provisions of § 865 of this title, shall coordinate as soon as possible with the Department of Agriculture and all other pertinent agencies the procedure for having the facilities and personnel assigned that are necessary to handle and guard the cattle seized so that it does not suffer any harm during the investigative process; Provided, That the expenses incurred for such a purpose shall be imposed as costs at the time sentence is pronounced against the person(s) convicted or fined for violating the provisions of this chapter. The Secretary of Agriculture shall establish through regulations the procedures for handling, transporting, caring and guarding the cattle seized pursuant to the pertinent provisions of this chapter.
